Tucked away down a side street with an inconspicuous entrance, the fact that it used be a gaol and the dark interior gives it a bit of mystique. Standard cafe fare but good service and good strong coffee. Since it's not too far from the highway it's a good place to stop by when you're heading further North. Will be visiting again.

I really wanted to like this one. The setting is amazing and worth the visit. The gaol exterior is beautifully preserved and the interior is decorated with many historical photos of the site. The steak sandwich and chicken burger were tasty but weren't offering anything novel. The coffee was lacking. In my case, served far too hot. Kilmore Gaol has all of the ingredients for a placemaking eatery and with but a few tweaks could become an attraction that brings people in for the buildings history and could keep them with a great food and beverage offering.

Lovely place next to historic gaol... Love the place, lovely staff and owner Melanie burns... Very hard worker and always tries to bring variety..... Good luck and happy days
